John Pickett joined RACheL in January 1998, after working many years in the synthetic fiber industry. He is an analytical chemist by training and has specialized in the use of NMR and IR spectroscopy to solve industrial problems. He brings to RACheL expertise in the analysis of synthetic polymers and fibers and their associated monomers, intermediates, additives, and surface treatments. John is known within the fiber and surfactant businesses for his skill at deformulating fiber finishes. With the current NMR equipment and the new mass spectrometry instrumentation, RACheL will be well positioned to solve complex organic analytical problems such as chemical structure determination, compositional analysis of mixtures, characterization of polymers and copolymers, and identification of impurities and processing deposits.
